Since it was first recognized in the United States, Father’s Day has been celebrated every third Sunday in June. The concept of honoring fathers and acknowledging all their contributions grew from the inspiration behind having a day devoted to mothers. An American woman named Sonora Smart Dodd set the idea into motion, and the nation’s first Father’s Day commenced on June 19, 1910. Because the summer solstice is around the same time, some people say there’s a link between the two.
This year, Father’s Day lands on Sunday, June 16th, 2019. Are you ready? It’s coming up quickly! Need any last minute ideas? We got you covered.
To start off the festivities, we would like to share the following quotes regarding fathers.
Quotes about Fathers
“I think my mom put it best. She said, ‘Little girls soften their daddy’s hearts.’” — Paul Walker
“Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad, and that’s why I call you dad, because you are so special to me.” — Wade Boggs
“A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the valuable assets in our society.” — Billy Graham
“Lookin’ back all I can say about all the things he did for me is I hope I’m at least half the dad that he didn’t have to be.” — Brad Paisley
“Any fool can have a child. That doesn’t make you a father. It’s the courage to raise a child that makes you a father.” — Barack Obama
“He adopted a role called being a father so that his child would have something mythical and infinitely important: a protector.” — Tom Wolfe
“I believe that what we become depends on what our fathers teach us at odd moments, when they aren’t trying to teach us. We are formed by the little scrap of wisdom.” — Umberto Eco
“It is not flesh and blood, but the heart which makes us fathers and sons.” — Johann Friedrich Von Schiller

Father’s Day 2019
Fathers play have a huge impact in their children’s lives. As many of the quotes about fathers above illustrate, fathers are seen as role models, heroes and the guiding light who helps shape their children as they grow. But, for a father fully devoted to raising his children, this is just how he shows his love and affection. In the words of Hugh Jackman, an adoptive father, “The love for your children is so powerful – you’d do anything for them and not even think about it.”
Whether you are a birth father, adoptive father, or father-in-law; married or single, gay or straight, we hope that you have a great Father’s Day, surrounded by those you love.

Support Adoption Choices
Adoption Choices, Inc. is partnering with Crowdrise, a fundraising website for nonprofits, to help our adoptive parents and birth parents with much needed financial assistance. We understand that expenses keep clients from fulfilling their dreams. Both with birth parents making a plan for adoption, and with adoptive parents growing their family. It is our mission to provide financial assistance through grants and scholarships, awarded annually in November, in honor of National Adoption Month. Funds assist adoptive parents with matching and placements, adoption finalization and helping birth mothers improve their lives through higher education — and much more.
However, we can’t do it alone. Please read up on our programs and donate money where you are able. Your donation will make a huge impact.
