Mother’s Day Gifts for an Intended Mother

It’s that time of year once again! Celebrating the mothers who have made it their business to take care of us. For the month of May, Adoption and Surrogacy Choices of Reno is honoring these amazing people!

Last week, we rang in the month of May with gifts you can give to the gestational carrier in your life. This week, we’ll be focusing on the women who are on the other side of the coin: intended mothers. This holiday is one that they have been waiting for. Whether she’s just getting used to having the new bundle of joy in her home, or whether she’s still anxiously waiting, you can be sure that whoever the intended mother in your life is, she will be ecstatic to celebrate this day.

So, with that said, here are some gifts for an intended mother.

In Preparation

It’s no secret that when a baby comes into your life and your home, you need to be prepared. There are many things that go into preparing a home for a new baby. So, when in doubt, find something that is practical for any new mother. Items for the expected little one’s nursery are always welcome. If the intended mother in your life has a theme for the nursery, pick out some stuffed toys that fit the theme! If you’re the creative sort, you can also always knit or crochet a lovey, or a blanket for the little one.

Baby clothes are not only absolutely adorable to look at, they’re also especially helpful for new mothers to have on hand. Packages of diapers will also be immensely helpful, as will baby-friendly laundry soap.

If you’re in the Reno area and are looking to shop local, you can always check out Biggest Little Baby’s website. Through them, you can find all sorts of items, from cloth diapers to amber teething necklaces. They also offer groups and classes to new parents! Be advised, though, during the coronavirus pandemic, Biggest Little Baby is only offering curbside pick up, and their classes are all virtual. Get all the details and updates on their website.

Sentimental Gifts

While many mothers are able to look fondly on their time being pregnant during their Mother’s Day, many intended mothers don’t have that opportunity. So, if you’re a gestational carrier looking for a unique gift, here are some ideas that you may find useful!

Only you and the intended parents you’re working with will fully understand what this journey has been like. It’s a bonding experience quite unlike any other. So, many gestational carriers keep a pregnancy journal for the intended parents. These not only give them an idea as to what the process was like for you as the carrier, but also will commemorate this amazing journey you took together.

In the journal, you can include:

  • notes you kept on special days during your pregnancy (the day the pregnancy was “official,” the first time the baby kicked, etc.)
  • Ultrasound photos
  • Weekly baby bump photos

This is a unique and heartfelt and heartfelt gift. Your intended mother will appreciate the time and effort you took to compile everything for the book, and will treasure the chance to look back on all her favorite memories the rest of her life.

Jewelry is a tried-and-true gift for the holiday, for sure. You can take a more “traditional-with-a-twist” route for your intended mother this Mother’s Day, and give her sound wave jewelry. This is where you take the heartbeat from the baby’s ultrasound, and have the sound wave engraved into a bar necklace, bracelet or keychain. Truly a one-of-a-kind gift!

Relaxation

Relaxation is key to motherhood, regardless of how you get there. When it comes to intended mothers, sometimes the wait and the stress of the journey can take its toll.

Offering the intended mother in your life a spa day will most certainly be a welcome gift. Taking the edge off for even an hour can do wonders for her! We mentioned Steamboat Hot Springs and Dolce Vita Wellness Spa in our last post, if you’re looking to support some spas local to the Reno area. local to the Reno area However, it may be awhile before they open up again, due to the coronavirus pandemic and coronavirus pandemic and temporary business closures.

Another great business is Pantry Products. They take only natural ingredients and put them into amazing products that anyone would love. They have plenty of bath soaks, roll-on treatments and even baby friendly products!

Sometimes, a lady just needs an old-fashioned night in to take the edge off. Nothing fancy, nothing special, just a relaxing night in. So a gift of wine and chocolate could be the perfect way to go!

Mother’s Day

In spite of giving your intended mother a gift, In spite of giving your intended mother a gift, it goes without saying that she will be receiving the greatest gift of all at the end of the journey — a family.

Support Adoption Choices

CrowdriseAdoption Choices, Inc. is partnering with Crowdrise, a fundraising website for nonprofits, to help our adoptive parents and birth parents with much needed financial assistance. We understand that expenses keep clients from fulfilling their dreams. Both with birth parents making a plan for adoption, and with adoptive parents growing their family. It is our mission to provide financial assistance through grants and scholarships, awarded annually in November, in honor of National Adoption Month. Funds assist adoptive parents with matching and placements, adoption finalization and helping birth mothers improve their lives through higher education — and much more.

However, we can’t do it alone. Please read up on our programs and donate money where you are able. Your donation will make a huge impact.
