Merry Christmas from Adoption Choices of Nevada

Merry Christmas from Adoption Choices of Nevada! With the holiday season in full swing, we want you and other birth mothers in the state of Nevada to know that we are here for you. The holiday season is never easy for birth mothers, whether it is spending your first holiday season with your child and the adoptive family because you have an open adoption or if you are dealing with heightened levels of sadness and grief because you just got done with your adoption process and placement has taken place. Adoption Choices of Nevada is here for you, and we will do our best to help you and support you in any way we can.

Support for Birth Mothers during the Holidays

For birth mothers who have just completed their Nevada adoption, recently completed their adoption, or are still considering adoption, the holidays can be a hard time. The emotions that come with the holiday season can cause birth mothers to be dealing with immense sadness and grief. If you are in this situation, just know that you are not alone, Adoption Choices of Nevada is here for you. You can come to us, and we can help you work through these feelings you are dealing with. Our office is open throughout the holiday season, so you can make an appointment whenever you need to talk. We can also help you find other avenues of support to help you work through these feelings you are dealing with. We can help you find a post-placement counselor. We can also help you find a birth mother support group. Now when it comes to choosing which option for support, do not be afraid if one does not help you right away. Everyone is different; some birth mothers just need a post-placement counselor, some just need a birth mother support group, or they need both to help them through their feelings. If you need multiple ways of support, that is okay. We want to do whatever we can to help you work through these feelings you are dealing with. The holidays can be a tough time, but it is important to remember that you are not alone and do not have to work through these feelings independently. We are here for you.

Open Adoption and the Holidays

Now, if you are a birth mother in an open adoption, this holiday season can be an exciting time for you. This could be the first time you are spending time with your child and the adoptive family. Here at Adoption Choices of Nevada, we have some tips to help you have a successful holiday season with your child and the adoptive family.

This holiday season is the perfect time to build your relationships with your child and the adoptive family. You can start new holiday traditions with them. You can share holiday traditions you celebrated as a child and participate in their holiday traditions—another thing you can do as well is exchange gifts with your child and the adoptive family.

An important aspect of all of these options is incorporating their interests. It is important to incorporate your child’s interests and the adoptive family’s interests if you are starting new holiday traditions with them because you want them all to have a good time and enjoy the activities you are doing together. You do not want them to be uninterested because then there is a chance they will not want to participate in the tradition the next holiday season. Creating a tradition where everyone involved is having fun and enjoying the time together will be very memorable for you all and will give everyone something to look forward to the next holiday season. Now when it comes to exchanging gifts, you want to get your child a gift that involves something they are interested in. This will let them know that you care about them and are there for them, and want to be a part of their lives. For the adoptive family getting them a gift that involves their interests lets them know that you are thankful for them and appreciate them.

This holiday season will allow you to build your relationship with your child and the adoptive family, and you all will be able to create wonderful memories together.
