The Do’s and Don’ts of Planning Your Adoption in Nevada

Are you experiencing an unplanned pregnancy? Are you feeling lost or confused? Are you considering adoption? At Adoption Choices of Nevada, we can help you process all of your thoughts and feelings. Our mission is to guide birth mothers throughout their pregnancy journey and the adoption process. We do not expect you to have all the answers or to know what you are doing from the get-go. We understand it can be pretty tricky attempting to navigate the adoption process and can be very overwhelming. Before going through the list of do’s and don’ts of planning your adoption, let us discuss what the adoption process might look like.

In Reno, Nevada, adoption is always an option and is always a positive one. Giving up your baby for adoption can be terrifying and can overwhelm you with even more emotions. To help make it easier on you, Adoption Choices of Nevada provides you counseling with licensed professionals, medical aid, legal assistance, resources to help educate you more on legality, and caring specialists to provide you with personalized attention and support. There are precisely five steps: choose a local adoption agency, determine the types of adoption, review adoptive families, interview and pick an adoptive family, and finally, give birth.

Do’s For Your Nevada Adoption Plan

  • DO be Open and Honest

It is important to be honest from the very beginning and open up to your counselors and adoption specialist. We just want to help you and to do that. We need full disclosure. We are not here to judge or to convince you to think a different way. Our mission is to serve you, a birth mother, and ensure a happy and healthy pregnancy.

  • DO Ask Questions

It can be a very overwhelming process and sometimes hard to understand when it comes to adoption. It is okay and perfectly normal to ask questions. We do not expect you to have all the answers or to know what to do next. Do not be ashamed to ask certain questions because it is important to be very honest with those handling your adoption.

  • DO Understand You Are Never Alone

The most important thing we want you to be aware of is that you are never alone. We want you to know that if you do not have friends or family to go to for help, you have us at Adoption Choices of Nevada. We have expert counselors and other licensed professionals to assist you in anything you might need. Even if you are just looking for someone to talk to, we have a 24/7 support hotline.

Don’ts When Planning Your Nevada Adoption

  • DON’T Make Hasty Decisions

It is essential to look at all of your options and to not make any decisions before knowing the extent of all those options. We provide you with all of the relevant information and are open to answering any questions that you have. We want you to be fully aware and fully confident in any decisions that you make. If you are ever feeling doubt or questioning an action, reach out to us so we can alleviate your concerns.

  • DON’T Only Think About The Present Time

The present is exactly what it is, the present. This is not the only life you will live in your lifetime. Imagine your future and what you see for yourself. Think about the future in terms of the career you want, the people you want in it, and the life goals you want to accomplish. Doing so will allow you to make a well-suited plan and choose the option that is right for you.

  • DON’T Feel Pressured to Tell Anyone About Your Adoption Plan

If you have decided the route of adoption, it is no one’s business but yours and your adoptive agents. Never feel obligated to share information regarding your adoption with friends or even family. It is okay to keep it to yourself if you feel like it is truly necessary. However, it is also okay to share it if you need additional support, but never feel pressured. Adoption can be very personal for some birth mothers, and you have the right to privacy.

Now that we have discussed a little bit of the adoption process and the do’s and don’ts that come along with it, you might have more questions than when you first started reading. We are always available if you need someone to talk to. We do not judge, and we do not assume. All that matters to us is that you feel comfortable talking to someone and that you are aware that you always have someone behind you.
