What Every Birth Mother Needs from Their Local Adoption Agencies in Nevada

If you are currently experiencing an unplanned pregnancyAdoption Choices of Nevada is here to assist you. At our local adoption agencies, we offer a range of services to all of our birth mothers. We understand this time in your life can be overwhelming, which is why we seek to alleviate some of the stress you may be experiencing.

What are My Unplanned Pregnancy Options?

You have three options if you are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and are unsure of what to do: parent, terminate the pregnancy or choose adoption. Though the prospect of parenting can seem daunting, you may decide that this is the right time to become a parent, and you may choose to keep your baby. This is an excellent choice and one in which both you and your baby will benefit.

You can also choose to terminate your pregnancy. Termination of pregnancy is legal in Nevada up to 24 weeks; pregnancy terminations after 24 weeks are only authorized if the pregnancy poses a threat to the mother. We do not judge at Adoption Choices of Nevada. We just want you to make the best decision for yourself and your circumstances.

Adoption is another option if you are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and neither wish to parent nor terminate the pregnancy. We have local adoption agencies in Reno and Las Vegas with staff ready to assist you.

What Services Do My Local Adoption Agencies Provide?

If you decide that a Nevada adoption is the right choice for you, we assist you during and after your pregnancy. The first step in your adoption journey is to contact us via text, email, or phone any time of the day or night. After you contact us, we will establish you with an adoption facilitator. Your adoption facilitator will be your guide throughout the adoption process and will help you develop your personalized adoption plan. An adoption plan is your plan for adoption and includes everything from who you want to adopt your baby to the type of adoption you would like.

We want you to feel comfortable about adoption, which is why we allow all of our birth mothers to choose their child’s adoptive family. When choosing your child’s prospective adoptive family, think of things like, “What kind of life do I want my child to lead?”; “Do I want my child to have siblings?”; “Am I open to transracial adoption?” Questions like these and others will help you determine which adoptive family is right for your child. We provide you with a range of prospective adoptive family profiles so that you have options to choose from. If you are unsatisfied with the initial family profiles we provide you with, we will give you more. We never want you to feel rushed through this process.

The next step of your adoption journey is to determine what kind of assistance you will need. We provide financial, medical, and supportive counseling assistance to all of our birth mothers. We arrange financial assistance for expenses like rent, food, gas, and other maternity-related expenses. We try to mitigate the additional stressors pregnancy may cause, and you should not have to worry about basic necessities while you are pregnant.

We ensure that you have adequate medical care throughout your pregnancy. Your health and your baby’s health are of the utmost importance during your pregnancy, which is why it is important that you are regularly attending your doctor’s appointments. It is also important that you eat healthily during this time; your doctor will give you advice about proper nutrition.

We also provide supportive counseling to all of our birth mothers. This counseling can be one-on-one, group, or birth mother retreats; each type of counseling addresses different needs. One-on-one counseling is great if you’d like some privacy to express your fears and concerns surrounding adoption. These sessions are 100% confidential and are only between you and your adoption counselor. Group sessions and birth mother retreats allow you to connect with other birth mothers who have experienced or are experiencing a similar situation. Birth mother retreats allow you the opportunity to “retreat” from your day-to-day life and really focus on you and your feelings. Regardless of the type of supportive counseling you choose, we are here to help you during and after your pregnancy.
