By Kristin Kauder

Are you a woman experiencing an unplanned pregnancy? If so, you have come to the right place. You may have gotten here by searching adopt my baby. Or, you may have searched unexpected pregnancy help. While searching either of those in your web browser is a good start, it may not answer all your questions regarding the adoption process. The adoption process can be overwhelming if you don’t know where to begin, however, we at Adoption Choices of Nevada are here to help!

You may be wondering why you should choose Adoption Choices of Nevada, especially since there are so many adoption agencies out there. Adoption Choices of Nevada is a licensed, nonprofit, private agency, unlike some other adoption agencies in Nevada. We have been assisting families since 2002. It is together we will break down the steps of the adoption process into manageable pieces. This is to provide you with all the adoption info you may need, especially when you are putting a child up for local adoption.

Step One: Contact Adoption Choices of Nevada

The first step in the adoption process is contacting Adoption Choices of Nevada, where we are equipped to handle your needs. We are available 24/7 to answer any questions you may have. By calling us, our staff can connect you with an adoption specialist. Our adoption specialist will speak with you one-on-one to make sure you understand the process. They are here to help you in finding prenatal care and transportation to and from appointments. They will also assist you in creating a budget for your expenses.

Step Two: Talk with an Adoption Specialist

The second step in the adoption process is talking with one of our adoption specialists. Our adoption specialists help you create an adoption plan, choosing the type of adoption that best suits your needs. They also help you choose the adoptive family and the birth plan.

Step Three: Determine Your Adoption Plan

The third step in the adoption process is creating an adoption plan. It is here you will discuss any assistance you may need during the adoption process, such as assistance with transportation to and from your appointments or assistance in creating a budget for your living expenses and prepartum and postpartum care. You will also get to choose what kind of adoption you want. This includes determining whether you want an open adoption, a semi-open adoption, or a closed adoption. To understand the different types of adoption, please visit the types of adoption page.

Step Four: Choose an Adoptive Family

The fourth step in the adoption process is choosing an adoptive family! If we haven’t mentioned it already, you are in control of your adoption. This means you can discuss with us your family preferences. For instance, you may want to choose an adoptive family who matches your religious beliefs, parenting style, and more! We are here to help you choose the best family for your child.

Step Five: Complete Your Adoption Plan

The fifth step in the adoption process is finalizing the adoption plan. We will help you make sure you are receiving care during your pregnancy. As mentioned previously, we will assist you in finding transportation to and from your appointments and creating a budget for your expenses.

Step Six: Post-Adoption Support

The final step in the adoption process is post-adoption support. You may be eligible for financial assistance after your child has been placed with a family. Not only this but if, at any time, you need counseling services, we are here to provide them for you. You can seek our counseling services during your pregnancy and after your pregnancy for as long as you need it. There are support groups available to you as well.
