What Will be Included in Adoption Post-Placement Services?
Have you placed your baby for adoption and are wondering what kinds of post-placement services Adoption Choices of Nevada provide? Maybe you are currently pregnant, are currently working with an adoption facilitator, and want to know how we will take care of you after your child is adopted. All of these are valid concerns and ones we can assist with at Adoption Choices of Nevada.
What Post-Placement Adoption Services Does Nevada Offer?
We provide assistance during and after your pregnancy at Adoption Choices of Nevada if you qualify. Pregnancy is hard enough without having to worry about food, safe housing, or transportation. When you create your personalized adoption plan, we discuss your financial needs. Some women need assistance with food, shelter, and maternity clothing, while others do not need financial assistance.
We also make sure that you have adequate medical care during and after your pregnancy. Your health and your baby’s health are of the utmost importance during pregnancy. If you do not have adequate medical care during your pregnancy, we will find you a doctor and help you get to and from your doctor’s appointments.
Your adoption facilitator will address your needs in your customized adoption plan. Our assistance is not limited to only financial assistance. As mentioned above, we help with transportation, food, and other maternity-related expenses. We provide pre and postnatal support counseling for all of our birth mothers for as long as you may need.
Post-Placement Counseling
We also provide postpartum support to our birth mothers. Placing your baby for adoption is a difficult decision, and you may be struggling to reconcile with that choice. This is perfectly normal and okay. We offer different types of counseling depending on your specific needs and wants. We provide three main types of counseling: one-on-one, support groups, and birth mother retreats. Each type of postpartum counseling support we provide is beneficial to you and depends on your specific needs regarding counseling.
- One-on-One Counseling: This type of counseling involves you and your adoption counselor. You can discuss any reservations or fears you may have about a Nevada adoption. Our counseling sessions are confidential and tailored to you. You can ask your adoption counselor any questions you may have and express any feelings of guilt, pain, or regret. These sessions are for you. You can talk about whatever you would like in a secure, controlled environment.
- Support Groups: Although support groups are not completely confidential because you are discussing your adoption experience with other birth mothers, nothing you say will leave the room. Support groups allow you to discuss your adoption experience with other birth mothers who may have similar concerns or experiences. Much like one-on-one counseling, support groups are conducted in a secure and safe environment. You do not have to worry about being judged because the other women are just like you.
- Birth Mother Retreats: Birth mother retreats are a lot like support groups, but you are able to go to a kind of sanctuary to connect with other birth mothers. Birth mother retreats allow you to foster deeper relationships with other birth mothers and “retreat” from your day-to-day life. These retreats also cultivate deeper relationships with the other birth mothers and sometimes lead to friendships outside the group. There are no distractions during a birth mother retreat, which enables you to focus on the retreat, the other birth mothers, and your experience.
We offer different types of counseling because everyone’s needs and adoption experiences are different. You can attend these meetings for as long as you would like after giving birth. We want to ensure that you have adequate support and time to heal.
